Ron Trent comes with a joyous remix of the legendary Brazilians jazz funkers...

Rivalling their legendary output from the 70’s onwards, Brazilian jazz-funk pioneers Azymuth’s latest album Fênix saw the band on top form, with their trademark samba doido (crazy samba) sounding as slick as ever. Since then, Far Out Recordings has comissioned a special one-off remix for the project, from Chicago deep-house legend Ron Trent (Prescription), who has long cited Azymuth as musical heroes and one of his biggest influences. With a toughened groove and gorgeous swirls of synth and pad embelishments, Ron’s remix takes Azymuth’s futurist disco even deeper.

Azymuth is a Brazilian jazz-funk trio formed in 1973. The original band members were the late Jose Roberto Bertrami (keyboards), plus Alex Malheiros (bass, guitars), and Ivan Conti (drums, percussion). In 2004 Guillherme Pimenta joined them on lead guitar. From 1979 to 1988, they released many albums for Milestone Records. They also had a major hit single with "Jazz Carnival" in 1979. It peaked at number 19 in the UK Singles Chart in January 1980. Since the mid-1990s, they have released albums on Far Out Recordings, while remaining based in Brazil, and continue to tour in Europe.

DJ/Producer Ron Trent has been rooted in the dance music world for over 29 years and is largely regarded for producing and playing an eclectic range of music. Raised in Chicago's early underground music scene in the 1980s, which transitioned from Disco into House music, Ron Trent began his career early as a DJ and released his first production in 1990 "Altered States".
